HP · Voyager · September 1981 to January 1989
HP launched its Voyager line on September 1, 1981 with two calculators: the 12C for money and the 11C for science. The 11C is a full RPN scientific with statistics and the gamma function, up to 203 program steps, 20 registers plus an index register, labels, flags, loop counters and indirect addressing. It has no matrices or complex numbers, which the 15C added a year later, but collector Tony Thimet calls it a perfect everyday calculator with a versatile programming model. HP sold it until early 1989. If you want a Voyager to use every day and don't need the 15C's advanced math, this is the one to look at first.

Should come with it
Check the listing photos against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing piece should come off the price.
No hardware faults documented. Check for leaked button cells, a complete display and every key.
New to old calculators? The condition checklist covers battery corrosion, displays, keys and card readers, and RPN in one hour gets you typing on an HP.
Buying guide
We'd buy the 11C titled tested and working with a case at $81 delivered, about $21 under the $102 median. There are at least 58 for sale and most working ones ask $80 to $130 delivered, while one titled still functional sits at the bottom at $50. Ask for a photo of the open battery door and one of the display lit with every digit, and ask the seller to store a number, switch off and on, and recall it, which tests the Continuous Memory. Two titles each appear word for word on two accounts, and the bare $300 listing comes from a zero-feedback seller at three times the median, so skip those.

The lowest delivered 11C, at $50, titled still functional. It has no case or test claim and a sticker on the faceplate, so ask for a photo of the display lit and a video of every key typed once.
