Texas Instruments' programmables, which use TI's AOS algebraic entry instead of RPN. The TI-59 and TI-58 of 1977 were the first handhelds to take removable ROM modules, the Solid State Software modules, and the TI-59 adds a magnetic card reader. The TI-58C of 1979 keeps its memory with the power off. All three run on TI's BP1A NiCd pack, which has usually died or leaked by now, and TI's own notes and Wikipedia warn against running them on the charger without a pack fitted. On a TI-59, the card reader is the usual problem.
