Financial calculators put time value of money on the keyboard: N, i, PV, PMT and FV, plus cash flows, interest conversion and amortization. HP's 12C has done it since 1981 and is still made today, in the original, the Platinum and its special editions, and the CFA Institute allows every one of them in the exam room. The 17BII of 1990 takes a different route, with menus, a two-line display and an equation solver instead of programs, and it switches between RPN and algebraic entry. Check which 12C you're looking at before you buy, since the Platinum and its editions add algebraic entry and more memory, and the battery tells you the era.
